Reasons for a Spring Wedding

Spring is often thought of as a season of renewal, a time for blooming, and a celebration of new life. Truly, there’s no better way to begin the new chapter you are about to embark on, than by saying “I do” in the season of new beginnings. If you need a little more convincing, we have compiled our top five reasons for choosing a spring wedding.

Perfect Temperature

We all know the feeling of that fresh spring air after a long, dark winter. Along with the flora, we feel awakened with the change of seasons. In the spring months, the temperature is neither too hot nor too cold, which creates the perfect atmosphere for an outdoor ceremony and mingling on the patio during cocktail hour. There is no intense heat to ward off, no heavy jackets to bring along, and your guests can finally pull that spring attire out of their closet. Plus, all the gentlemen in suits will be thanking you for choosing a comfortable climate for their attire! Spring sunshine is the most welcoming and refreshing ambience for a celebration of love.

Ideal Lighting

On the topic of sunshine, another advantage of the spring season is the bright and lengthy days. There are so many moments you’ll want to capture on your wedding day, and not having to rush to take your photos before the sun sets is a significant benefit of the spring daylight. Between May and June, as summer solstice approaches, the extended days will certainly allow your photographer plenty of photo opportunities. Some of our favourite photos in the spring months are taken during the reception, when the couple can sneak outside to share a moment in the golden light.

Guest & Vendor Availability

There are many vendors to align for your big day, and sometimes finding preferred vendors who are available in the busier summer months can be a challenge. Often times, key vendors are less in demand at the start of spring than they are as the season progresses. As well, some wedding guests may have a hard time accommodating a summer wedding within their own full calendar of events and vacations. By contrast, with choosing a spring wedding, you are at the advantage of a less busy schedule for both vendors and your guests, so more of your favourite people are likely to be there to celebrate your big day.

Gardens in Full Bloom

Lush, fragrant and in full bloom, the gardens on the grounds of your venue are likely to be at their best in the spring months. Not only does this offer a beautiful setting for your guests, but also a naturally vibrant backdrop for your wedding photos. And when it comes to selecting the flowers for your wedding arrangements, the options are endless in the spring. Floral variety favourites like peonies, roses, lilac, anemones, and snapdragons are in season, meaning that you may very well be able to maximize your floral budget more during the spring months in comparison to summer and fall.

Inspiring Colour Palettes

To compliment the abundance of spring florals, there are a variety of beautiful colour palettes to choose from in the spring. Whether you are drawn to airy pastels like lavender, buttery yellow, peach, or sage green, or instead prefer something more vibrant, like deep red or emerald green jewel tones - there is no shortage of shades to choose from. This year, whether incorporated into bridesmaid attire or floral arrangements, we can’t wait to see Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Viva Magenta, make a splash on the wedding scene.
